My LFS sells something they call "live water." I asked what it was and it's basically just water they collect directly from the ocean. They sell it for $0.50 a gallon. This seems like it could either be really good for a tank or possibly really bad. Could there be pathogens in this water? Or things that could cause harm to fish/corals/inverts? What are you guys' thoughts on "live water?"
As long as the water was not taken from right off shore, then its safe to use.
This is a stupid question.. but are the water paramaters the same all over the ocean? Like will I have to worry about pH or nitrates or something being off?
Would this water be better than mixing my own with Instant Ocean?
Not alot of difference anymore, because of todays technology.
Oh ok cool. Then for ease of use I will probably use the ocean water, also, it would be cool to know that I have a part of Florida's ocean in my home :)
