I've been buying plants and have gotten a few hitchhiker snails. They're way too small for a picture, but maybe you can take a guess what they are. They are cone shaped to a point on one side. What are these and are they the snails that can breed with only one snail? Can a ramshorn snail breed with only one?
is a pond snail. That's the only one I know of that's got a point on the side...
As far as I know, all snails need a mate to reproduce. The confusion arises because whatever carries the snail in can easily carry in some hidden eggs.
they also don't eat healthy plants- I keep pond and ramshorn snails in all my tanks as a cleanup crew.
I wouldn't worry about the pleco starving to death on account of the snails if that's what you're asking...But yes, the snails will nibble on the pleco's food if they get to it first.
