Does having water sprite plants in the tank (i think they float) produce beneficial results as much as plants that are planted
First welcome to the forum. Water sprite can be planted as well as left floating thought most say it looks best floating and there is an added benefit of providing shade for fish, and your fish prefer a darker tank
In some ways, floating plants are more beneficial. Aside from the important shade aspect that Blackfeet mentioned, floating plants are able to utilize more nutrients and take up more toxins, while releasing more oxygen via their dangling roots. This is because being at the surface, they have what we call an aerial advantage, they can take in CO2 from the air which is much easier for plants to do plus there is more CO2 available. And they are closer to the light so that allows them to photosynthesize faster (assuming all else is equal).
Water Sprite is one of the absolute best floating plants. Like all floaters it is fast growing (because of the above-mentioned) but it has a beautiful leaf form plus the extensive root mass; many fish will naturally browse this looking for food, plus fry can hide in it, and anabantids can build their bubblenests.
