What kind of sucker fish is this? Hello, Recently I grabbed a pair of this sucker fish from a local flea market after much assurance from the shopkeeper that these will perfectly blend into my community tank. They very much resemble sting rays from the overall outward appearance with flattened bodies and long tails but cling onto the aquarium's glass like any regular suckers. Their movements too are very similar to other common sucker fishes. http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/8388/dsc01431lk.jpg Can someone please help put a name to this fish? Thanks, m^e |
Looks like hillstream loach. |
Hillstream loach.. Vegetarian, have a high oxygen need so you need good aeration in the tank. Posted via Mobile Device |
Yep. Hillstream loach, not a pleco. They appreciate fast water movement and need high levels of oxygen as they come from fast-flowing mountain streams. They are probably not a good fish for your community and require a specialized setup to thrive. |
Agree. Click the shaded name to see the profile with photos. |
Definetly a hillstream loach. It looks very similar to a pleco of some sort though. |
Ditto everything said so far. Also rather fond of cooler temps than your average loach. |
