Tap Water Conditioner

As I was counting drops into buckets tonight for my regular water change, I started wondering...

just what is this stuff?

I know what the label says, and what it claims to do, but there aren't any ingredients listed.

Does anyone know what goes into tap water conditioner?

Principle Ingredients: sodium hydroxymethane sulfinate, polyvinyl pyrrolidones, organic hydrocolloids, organic chelating compounds.

Says right on the bottle of my Aqua-safe bottle. Not sure what exactly some of those compounds are, but I'm sure you can research all about each one on the internet, or in books.

Interesting question. My bottle of Stress Coat didn't list any ingredients, so I went online and found the MSDS sheet. It lists the ingredients as aloes extract, sodium thiosulfate, and water.

Great idea to go for the MSDS.

My API "Tap Water Conditioner" contains:
Tetrasodium EDTA - used to bind metal ions ("detoxify heavy metals")
Sodium thiosulfate - reduces chlorine into chloride ("remove chlorine")
