| Captain Jim Dandy | 08-06-2012 02:29 AM | Uncycled tank of young angels Well, I've killed two of my dozen juvy angels. I guess I'm wrong to think that enough water changes are just as good or better than a cycled tank. I have nine nickel sized angels in a 29 gallon tank that I have been changing out 5 to 8 gallons a day.. not good enough I guess- I've lost two and have one in a hospital tank. Feeling I better get these fish into a cycled tank. I have two possibilities- One is a 55 with nine neons and four white mountain minnows and four cories. Then I have a 40 breeder with 4 serpae tetras and eight blackveil tetra. Obviously I've got to move fish. Ammonia andnitrite in both of these tanks is good, however the nitrate is about 30 parts per million. I guess I should be shot. I did a 3/4 water change in the 40 just now and waiting 5 minutes for result. One little guy is in a hospital tank with water from the 55 and an aereater.. he's doing much better the last 3-4 hours. Okay- I think the water from the 40 has cleaned up to about10 or better.Should I move these guys now? |
