Eel has a HOLE! HELP!
I just got an eel the other day and I noted after swimming through some of my decorations it has a tear in it's skin. I'm not sure what type of eel it is but below are some pictures or it and the tear. I'm trying to figure out if this is something that will heal or if there is anything I can do to help it. :-(
yoru type of eel is a Brackish water Moray eel (gymnothorax Tile) i have one of these myself, and the two holes near its head are for its breathing... so perfectly normal...
There should be another hole at the belly of the eel, thats where it removes its waste. However! the last picture you have shown, looks like your eel has eggs!!!!!!!!! just letting you know, you have a ton of pressure on you now... cause no one has ever hatched this species of eels in an aquarium enviornment!
as far as worrying about it... make sure you leave it alone, dont do what i do to show my friends the eel, like, lift up its cave. make sure your water is brackish I noticed you have a pleco, so im guessing you have it in freshwater. buy yourself a hydrometer ( for like 15$) and get some sea salt, any type works, but everyone uses instant ocean, so id use that too. (( this is at the assumption that you have it at freshwater))
id make sure the eel is alone as well you dont want fish eating these eggs ( if they are eggs) Keep updating us please!! id love to har how this goes
OH! also, some people have had problems with keeping their eels in gravel ( not me though) because the sharp ends could puncture its skin, however, if no blood was present, i wouldnt worry about that
