Goldfish die after 100% water change
Got some sad news today, both my goldfish died... one this morning, and the other late afternoon... I did a 100% water change, which I read may be the cause as they were in shock... :( As sad as it is, I guess this is how I learn... I'll be sure to be more careful next time!
Thats too bad!
Awwww, poor things!
The only reason I can see why a goldfish would die after a 100% water change is because you didn't measure the temperature of the water so that they matched.
Other than that, at least your poor fishies didn't suffer!
It was real quick.
However, I do feel your pain and I would be crying for months is my precious goldies died </3
Oh...I am so sorry. Wish I knew what to say to make you feel better...hug
There are a lot of reasons your fish might have died after a 100% water changes. Temp as PaintingPintos mentioned is one of them. The first that comes to mind is the water parameters such as pH, GH, ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate were different. A large swing in one of these would cause a lot of stress and subsequently kill the fish. Because goldfish produce a lot of waste, they can change theses parameters rather quickly. In a properly-sized goldfish tank a weekly 50% water change is mandatory. If the tank is undersized, you will need to do more than two changes a week until you can get a larger tank.
I'm sorry your fish died. A lot of us learn lessons the hard way in this hobby.
I'm sorry for the loss, try doing 25-50% water change next time. It surely was shock and did you happen to acclimate them before reintroducing them?..
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. The parameters must have been widely different somehow.
