Water temperature variations
I bought a thermometer recently for my tank and noticed when it put it in that the water was reading 17 degrees C.
It's a small 38 litre freshwater tank with one very small Oranda living in it.
I've noticed today that the temp is nearly 20 degrees C and earlier in the week it was down to just below 16 degrees C.
I know the tank is not ideally placed and I've got a much bigger tank and tank location for her to move into but what sort of temps should I be aiming for and variations are considered acceptable?
Goldfish and Koi are coldwater fish. Also, the higher the water temperature the less oxygen is in the water for the fish to use. In addition, the larger the tank the longer many changes take, including water temperature.
You should look up goldfish in the Tropical Fish Profiles, on the left side of the menu under the Tropical Fish Keeping graphic or cllick on the highlighted word in this post.
