Bloodfin Tetra bugling eye I transfered my bloodfin tetras to my new 36 gallon and they have been in there for a day. This morning when I went to feed them I noticed one of the has a bulging eye. It is bulgling out all the other fish are fine. It's just the ones eye that is wrong anyone know what this is? |
It may be what is commonly termed pop-eye. An accumulation of fluid forces the eye out. I do not know if there are other causes. I had a Congo Tetra with this a couple months back, and I removed him to a 10g QT and treated with kanamycin. To my knowledge this is not contagious (but i will accept correction if wrong) so isolating the fish in a QT is advisable as the water has to be treated. I used Seachem's KanaPlex. It comes in a small tube and is a powder, and you add the measured amount (it has a measure spoon) three times at two-day intervals. It worked for me. Byron. |
