New Baby Oto!!

Ok, I have to tell someone who understands!!!

I've just had my first baby!!! YAY!!!! - Well ok, so it was my otocinclus who technically had it, but I'm just so chuffed to finally have my first home-bred addition in my tank!!

I've been watching my tanks anxiously for the last 2 years hoping to master this whole breeding thing to no avail. And I have to be honest I was convinced I was doing something seriously wrong.

I have had a professional aquarist check my water and setup and she told me everything was going fine but I still felt I was doing something wrong.

So I was away for the holidays and when I came back there it was, stuck to the glass alongside its mom!!
I was so thrilled I rang my mom, who thought I was crazy ringing her at half ten at night to tell her about my baby!!

I would have liked if it had been more than one, but its definitely better than none!! :D

Congrats, nice to hear someone has had some luck with breeding them.

If you don't mind, would you please post your tank parameters. Not often do otos breed in aquaria. The more information we can gather the better chance someone else has of repeating your success.

Again, congrats and post pictures when you can, I want to see what they look like when that small. :D

I bet I felt similarly when I found my baby Zebra Danios. I knew it was supposed to be easy, but I was going for the large spawn the next month. The morning I found them was the morning I learned about the small spawn.

Yes, it's a huge thrill to find babies, isn't it?
