Cichlids in a 29Gal
I am starting to like cics, and I was wondering what kinds of cics and how many I could put in a 29 gallon tank. I know I can't add Oscars, JD's, Angles, etc, but I want to know what I could add.
A few angels would be ok, say 3-4. Dwarf cihclids, keyholes, ports, apistogrammas, rams would be some New World cihlids. Julii, kribs would be Old World examples.
I meant to say 29-35 gallon, so I guess that might be able to open up a bit more for a group.
What type/types of cics would you suggest, and how many of each would be the best?
bump i am setting my brother up with a 29 gal and i would like to know this as well.
do you think he could put yellow labs in it? how many? he also likes the blue cichlids, what would be a good mix with labs and also how many?
i was thinking 6 total? 3 of each.
yellow labs would look nice, however you need to remember that they
will grow to about 4inches,and the males will fight for
territory,i have got two males in a 4ft(waiting to be returned long story)
and they meet in the middle and squabble often.
i would say to go with rams,or the others that herefishy sugested.
These "cookie-cutter" suggestions might help........
I was also wondering about a 20gallon. Sorry for all the different gallon sizes. :?
I was looking at the "Assorted" African Cics today, and I really like their personally and colors. Would I be able to add these into a 20?
its probrably better to stay away from the asst. tanks.........you never really know what you are getting.......your best bet would be to try and hook up with some local breeders/enthusiasts........it will most likely be a lot cheaper this way also........
i am in the process of setting up a 20g long myself and will be stocking a pair of Kribensis (west african cic) with some cherry barbs..........
you could also do some of the Tang "Shellies" or some of the dwarf cichlids.........
