I have a 55 gallon tank that has been going for over a year. I added 10 neon tetras and 10 black skirt tetras to the tank a week ago and have lost all but 1 neon. There is no trace of any body at all.

Other inhabitants are:
10 red minor tetras
5 lamp eye tetras
2 zebra danios
1 pletco

What could be causing this. I have never had this happen in the past.

We need to get at the cause of the initial death; once dead, a neon would easily be eaten by a pleco and other fish too for that matter. Or be sucked into the filter (again, once dead, a healthy live fish is not going to be trapped by a filter).

What are the water parameters, meaing GH, pH and temperature?

Is the tank planted (live plants)?

Were the new fish quatrantined in another tank?

Byron.
