Plant ID Help?

1 Attachment(s)
My friend picked up some bulbs from walmart and got them to grow but we have no idea what the plant is!

The package says its a lotus and I'm pretty sure that's not it.

Does anyone know what it is?
Its been growing like mad.

Thank you!

It is likely an Aponogeton, as to species I'm not sure. Possibly A. bolivianus, since this is about the only species I have photos of which has smoother leaves. Most aponogeton have wavy, undulate leaves. I would almost suggest another genus were it not for the tuber.

The lotus plants, genus Nymphaea, do have these tubers, but the leaves are not like this. The Red Tiger Lotus is in our profiles, click the shaded name, with photos.

Byron.

Ill take a look at that one, it seems like it almost has a tiny bulb growing as well, its hovering about a half inch out of the water.

I can't remember what that is called, but it is another Aponogeton trait. I have seen them on the species of Aponogeton I have, which are the two in our profiles.
