Running a 29 Gallon Freshwater tank,
Ammonia is perfect however my PH continues to be on the acidic side around 6.4 to 6.6 I cannot seem to keep it at 7.
Fish in tank
3 Black Skirt tetra
3 rio tetra
1 blue dwarf gaurami
1 Opaline Gaurami
2 neon tetra
1 african dwarf frog
Fake scenary, no real plants in the tank.
Any info would be great.
It sounds like your Ph works perfectly for the creatures you keep! May I ask why you want to change it?
I agree with Chesh. The pH is just fine for those species as most of them love soft and acidic water. You can click on the shaded name and read more about them.
You put my mind at ease with that. I have only been into this for about 6 months so I was just going by what I read in books and such that told me to keep a tropical community at 7. But I will take the advice of more experienced aquarists and go to sleep knowing that my tank is on the level it should be both PH and ammonia wise.
Thanks to both of you.
Always glad to help! There are a LOT of people out there who would kill for water as nice as yours, I promise! Take some time and go through the tropical fish profiles, as Koi suggested. You'll learn a lot about the fish you keep, and that will make you feel even better about things!
Glad we can help you sleep easier! Books are a great resource but many of them contain outdated information. This hobby is always growing and changing, so the internet and magazines are the best places for information.
And welcome to the forum! We hope you'll stick around. :-D
