I have a 280liter tank with just 4 angels in. they seem to have developed into 2 groups one black, one white and are always at war with the other. 1 of the angels started laying eggs while another seem to protect them and follow behind. this has happened 3 or 4 times now (they eat the eggs after a few days)
I know egg laying can cause fighting, but its now been a few months since the last laying and the fighting has got to a point where they are hurting each other, 2 of the angel fish live in fear hiding at the other end of the tank (the spot where they lay eggs) then daring across like a rocket to attack, really nasty. they have not damaged each other yet, but is only a matter of time!
Any idas how I can stop this, or why this is happening?
Angel fish are cichlids. Cichlids are territorial. Cichlids "fight" each other for territorial supremacy. The best thing to do would be to plant they tank heavily to provide more territory and hidding places. If that is not an option, I see a new tank in your future.
