How many cory cats?
My current tank is as follows,
9 guppies [i got them before i found out i had soft water]
10 pristella tetras [in QT]
12 cherry barbs
My tank is 45 gallons, 77-78 degrees. My Params are steady at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrItes, 2-3ppm nitrItes.
I would like to have a group of cories, and also three honey gouramis, either three females, or one male two females.
Im wondering how many cories i could fit?
They like to school so a group of 3 or more i would assume. I have 4 in one tank and 5 in another.
Im aiming at a lot more than that!
Im hoping for 12, four of each kind? Im thinking, four albino, four emerald, four spotted?
I wont be getting them for a while though, my pristellas are still in QT, and will be for about two-three weeks.
I chose four of each kind, cause most likely i will be buying them separately, so four is still a good enough group for QT...
Generally, corys should be in groups of five or more, of a species. However, with more than one species, you can have less of each species. But more is always best--all of these fish naturally live in groups of hundreds of one species, and it is rare to find more than one species together. But that doesn't mean they won't live together in the aquarium; in their habitat, evolution has determined distinct species, sometimes one in each stream.
In a 29g, only considering the corys for the moment, I would have from 5/6 up to 10/12. No less than 3 of each species if possible. I have observed in my group of over 30 corys in the 115g that some species do prefer being together more than some others.
