Driftwood?

Do Bristlenose plecos need driftwood? If they do does driftwood make water hard?

Yes to the first question, no to the second.

It mentions in our profile of the Bristlenose Pleco that it requires some driftwood fibre in its diet. Wood will slightly acidify/soften water as it releases tannins. The extent to which this occurs will depend upon the GH and KH of the water and the amount of wood, but it is usually minimal at most.

Byron.
