Molly's virgin pregnancy
I have many platies and one molly, all who I've had for about 5 months. They always seem to be pregnant but recently the molly was absolutely huge so I put them all on a diet because I thought I was feeding them too much. But one day I came home to find loads of fry (about 50) which I put in a breeding net. Usually I struggle to find one baby to save. On that day I noticed the molly was dramatically slimmer, which had occurred over a period of hours. But can they be the molly's babies, since she is the only molly? I have heard that livebearers can store sperm for a while but would she have stored it for that long a time? I have 2 male platies, who show no interest in her and a male gourami. Is breeding possible with any of these?

i'd probably say that it was what she had stored.
congrats on the fry. :)

Thanks for your reply :D do you think she could still have some sperm stored? She is becoming bigger again, would she have used it all up in that pregnancy or be able to use it again? And can she choose when to use it? Thanks.

They can have about 4 batches of fry from each mating. she could have another batch, and up to another 3 batches, maybe more but I haven't heard of that.
