Anacharis clippings and aquascaping a 25 gallon.
How do I cut Amacharis so I can grow it in my other tanks? The plant I got today looks like stems with no roots attached at the bottom with the white weight thing they use. Should I leave this on and put it in the sand (how is it currently) or take it off and plant each stem individually or in a clump? Right now it is a 2 gallon betta tank. Which is very tall (12 inches) for a 2 gallon, I believe.
Now for the 25 (so excited!!) i am doing an amazonian aqua scape with a piece of driftwood almost touches each end and is about 8 inches high. Picture below. I would like an open area in front it for the cories (and I think it looks cool :P.
Enough with my rambling, the plant I would like are:
Anacharis (got it today)
Pygmy Chain Sword
How should I place these plants in my tank to look the best? I know I wont be getting all of them, so if I could narrow down the list a bit that would be great. Sorry for such a long post.
Take that metal clip off the stems and stick them in the sand wherever you want them. They grow pretty fast, so don't worry about them being short right now.
As far as the rest of the plants, I say just put them where they look good. Taller plants in the back, shorter in the front. That's what I do.
Can't wait to see pics!
You can cut the anacharis wherever you like and stick it in the sand. In my experience, about the biggest root system they get is enough to hold them in the substrate. They can be left to float also. Many folks will say that anacharis is more of a cooler water plant, and it is, but as long as you're not running the tank at high temperatures (80s) it should be alright.
The pic of the 25 wont be for a while (need to finish building the stand first) but here is a picture of the anacharis.
The tank beside Swishes is his 'girl friend', Bubbles. So cute to watch him showing off, even when I move her tank for about 2 minutes he gets all depressed and sulks on the bottom. And when I move him he swim frantically up and down the side and Bubbles loses all her color. I love bettas! And betta couples :p
And would two amazon sword crowd the tank too much? I though they get huge . . .
