How to rinse Tahitian Moon Sand
I'm planning on getting some Tahitian moon sand for my aquarium. How do I go about rinsing it off before putting it in the aquarium? For gravel I always used a spaghetti strainer but wouldn't that let too much sand through?
I just rinsed some really small gravel and what worked best for me was to use a cake pan so I can stir it up and let a lot of water go through. Putting a hose in a 5 gallon bucket and letting it flow from the bottom up through the sand is supposed to work well too.
Ah that bucket idea sounds good. Any idea how long to let the water run or just let it go until the water coming out the top looks clear?
Just run until it is clear, make sure you stir it up some also to make sure that all the sand is rotating and getting rinsed.
