My plants are taking over my tanks!

Well like my title says, my plants are taking over my tanks......and it's got a little out of control:oops:! I started a new job back in may and it is taking my weekends also, and thats when I would normaly do my tank maintanace! This Job is very physical and I'am beat on my days off, witch don't happen very often:-(! I have Amazon swords, java ferns/moss, Brazilan Swords, Onion plants, Water Sprite, Anubias barteri and a Rubin Sword. What's the best way to start pruning these plants, should I go in there and just start cutting or what? My fish are starting to run out of swimming room:oops:!!! I was struggling at first with the live plant change, but now they are growing like nuts:shock:, in my 25 gallon and 10 gallon tank! Oh also the Swords are growing new "chutes" like mad! so I don't know what to do with the baby swords? So help please!

send me some plants!!! i need some more!

no seriously you better spend a bit of time trimming them, most of them will need to be cut a lot, esp the Java as that can grow from a little bit.
i think you should cut them back quite dramitically, :)

It would be my guess that the Java Moss and Water Sprite are the fastest growers. I would prune those back severely, maybe even remove one or both entirely. I wouldn't imagine that you'd have much difficulty finding people who would take some of the others off your hands. I suggest these rather drastic measures because it sounds like you're going through a life change that is having a major impact on your time and energy level at home. Good luck.

Some non chain pet stores would be happy to buy them from you for store credit, locally grown plants that are decent quality sell pretty well. They wont give you much but it should be enough to not ever have to pay for fish food again and get some new fishy loot
