Was it submersed when you turned it up? Most will show red when heating but I have one that shows green and red at times.

Can you post the model number here?

it was sumerged..the light does come on(its red)..im talking about the heating elements insude the tube..i havent seen it get red as it heats up the tank

The heating element will not get red. Only a little orange spot will glow. Don't worry, it is working.

Just he careful how you adjust it. The first time I did, I adjusted it the wrong way and when I came home from work, the temp in the tank was 91 degrees and 1 of the 3 guppies I had in there died.

If you the heater is working you will be able to see the convection waves. Just look at the heater from the side.
