What is the smallest corydoras species??
Pygmaus, hastasus and habrosis are the 3 smallest - collectively known as dwarf corys. I probably spelled them wrong.
There are also some small aspidoras species.
The three mentioned by jaysee are in our profiles with photos [click shaded names]:
There are some others, not encountered in the hobby very often. Corydoras bondi, C. cochui, C. gracillis, and a few more. These all remain under 4 cm.
We have one Aspidoras included, namely Aspidoras pauciradiatus which is probably the most commonly seen in the hobby. There are now 20 distinct species (Ferraris 2007), though some ichthyologists have proposed the inclusion of all Aspidoras species into Corydoras.
hastatus are quite nice iv kept them in a nano tank few years back, they do better and are more active in groups of around 6
As far as I know, all the dwarf corys do best in larger than groups than "normal".
True, I would aim for no less than 9. These also stay up in the water column much more than on the substrate.
