TV aquarium

My girlfriend and I have been thinking about turning an old TV (knobs and all) into an aquarium. I'm not sure how to start this. We got the guts of the TV out but we both have different ideas how to do it. I think we should cut the whole front off and build a plywood tank right inside. She wants to leave thr knobs and screen on the front so it looks like a working tv. Either way would look cool but leaving the front on seems like it would be very difficult to work around. Any ideas or opinions on how to do this? Ill post dementions and pictures when ever I get them.

you can slap a piece of acrylic behind the screen with a half inch gap or w/e you need by framing the inside with wood, still look like a tv and be solid

The internal dimensions are 38 long, 24 high and 14 wide. We are thinking of a 40 tall the only thing is we can't get the top of the TV cabinet off. While we work on that now any ideas on how to set this thing up because we are both at a loss and not sure if a 40 tall would leave us enough room for all the other equipment.
