Anyone use these guys for LR? I'm thinking of placing an order for some base and fiji from them. These seem like the prices I remember from back when I had my old tank. Went to a local LFS and they had fairly ugly rock with little to no life for 6.99/lb, blew my mind. DOUBLE what I used to pay for coralline encrusted fiji. Just wondering if anyone has used these guys and what the rock I'll get will look like.

The only place I used aside from various LFSs was LiveAquaria, but that was four years ago. A year and a half ago I set up my 210 and used a lot of dry, sandblasted "almost live rock" and what they call "Holey Rock" here in Chicago. Just to economize. There's upward of 200 pounds total in that tank, so I know what you're saying when you balk at seven bucks a pound.

FWIW I was pretty happy with the rock I got from LiveAquaria but can't remember the price. It seemed to take forever to color up, though, and my impression was that even some pieces of the dry base rock progressed faster than this. It wasn't really high grade stuff, though, and my better pieces I picked out at my favorite LFS.

I think live rock is the key to success, plus it makes the tank so interesting visually. How much rock are you needing?
