Stocking 55 Greetings Everybody, Just thought I would bounce this list of fish i am planning on stocking my 55 with... as soon as the cycle get's done. The progress of the cycle is here: http://fishforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=12290 Here is the preliminary stocking list that I have come up with. See any problems with compatability... :?: Stocking number(s) of fish for the 55? I plan on adding a canister filter, in addition to the Emperor 400 that I am currently running. 6 - Emperor Tetras (NEMATOBRYCON PALMERI ) 10 - Congo Tetras (PHENACOGRAMMUS INTERRUPTUS) 3 - Cory's (CORYDORAS AENEUS) Neon Orange Striped 1 - Pleco (PECKOLTIA) Tiger 5 - Black Skirt Tetras (GYMNOCORYMBUS TERNETZI) Furthermore...has anyone ordered from http://fish2u.stores.yahoo.net/ Any info would be appreciated...they are only across Tampa Bay from me..so I would not have to deal with shipping. Thanks in advance for any info. Have a great weekend :D |
I think that a tank of just Congos and Emperors in a well planted tank, with wood, would like awesome. Remember these tetras get a little bigger than most. I think that adding farowella catfish would make an intreesting addittion. I have never ordered any thing from Fish4U. So, I can't tell you much there. Good luck. |
I'm sitting right next to my tetra tank as I type. I have 5 species of tetra, and 3 of cories, at least 5 of each. If I were doing it again, I would go with 1 or two species of each, with 10 or so in a school. Congos and Orange Lasers and a Pleckolita or farowella might be plenty cool all by themselves. I'd seriously consider upping the cory shoal to 5 or 7. They're much more active that way. Way I see it, 10 Congos and 5 cories is as stocked as you want to be for the first 6 months (and ever after unless you plant the hell out of it. Which you should, since it will really help the Congo's color.) After 6 months, if heavily planted, maybe add your pleco, and then if all is still copacetic in a year, add your shoal of emperors. |

After I see what grows the best...I will finish with the planting. The Hornwort, Moneywort are growing at a pretty good pace, and the Amazon Sword is doing ok as well... I believe I will be adding some Java Moss...and replacing the Mondo Grass with Sagittaria subulata. Thanks everyone for the replies :D |
