External Overflow Box

I have a nano overflow and it is noisy. The flow has not been measured but I think its around 100 to 150 gph. It has a 3/4 inch bulkhead with a barbed 3/4 inch fitting and then 3/4 inch corrugated flexable hose attached. I tried using 1/4 inch green air line down into the bulkhead and it works only for a short while. What other things can I try to quiet the overflow?

try doing a google on durso standpipe.

Agree, the Durso standpipe works very well at reducing the gurgling. I have have one for the wet/dry filter for my 75g freshwater Cichlid tank and it made it silent.
