hi! i want to get some new fish soon (mayby a few months) and i would like some ideas. i currently have in my 29 gal tank guppies mollie swordtail cherry barbs iridescent shark (very small and friendly) platies cory catfish spotted catfish (not sure of exact name). i want something nonagressive but different. any ideas would be great! :D [/code]
Sounds like the tank is pretty full now. It will really be full when all of the fish reach maturity. I would recommend not adding any more fish.
thanks for the advice. i wasnt sur if there was enough room myself. but i was wondering how to tell if there is room or how many fish a tank could hold. some people have said 1 fish per gallon and others said it has something to do with the amount of water surface. which is it?
It's neither really. It depend son the amount of swimming space for the fish and the bioload they produce.
I also think the tank is too full and wouldn't add anything else.
Your irridescent shark will grow huge. If I were you, I would rehome him. They can reach 4ft in length. I would also think about rehoming some of your other fish as well as you are rather overstocked unfortunately.
there isnt as much as it sounds like because i dont have huge numbers of any. i only have 1 of most of them unfortunatly because i have had them for a while and their companions died. and i know that the shark will grow to be huge and i've been thinking about rehoming him.
