Could I fit all this in a 10 gallon without overstocking?
 

I currently have a 10 gallon aquarium with a male Betta, 2 Olive Nerite Snails, and 1 Tracked Nerite Snail. Could I also put in 2-3 African Dwarf Frogs, or would that be too much? I'm not sure. The Nerites are larger ornamental snails, and so do contribute to the bio-load, they aren't like itty bitty pond snails or malaysian trumpet snails that don't mess with bio-load much.

What kind of filter will the tank have? Is it planted? If so, how many plants? How large are your weekly water changes? As all of these factors contribute to stocking, we'll need to more about the tank to determine if it is overstocked.

I have an Aquaclear 20 filter, with the outlet set to low current.

It is planted. I have about 1/2 the surface covered with Amazon Frogbit and Dwarf Water Lettuce. I also have 1 Anubias nana and some Java Fern (a mix of regular Java Fern and Java Fern Windelov). There's also a small amount of Water Sprite. I do weekly water changes. Right now they kind've fluctuate in percentage between 25% and just under 50%.

Do NOT put African Dwarf Frogs in with a male betta. The ADFs are too slow and docile to defend themselves from being bullied. Also, if the betta bullies them when they try to surface for air (which the betta will most definitely do), the frogs will eventually drown.

Some of the faster frogs have been known to take out betta tail chunks. It's a hazard both ways.

How is that possible? ADFs don't have teeth, and they use their front legs to shove food into their mouths.

Maybe you're thinking of African Clawed frogs? They get much larger and can be very aggressive toward fish.

No I've heard of them just holding onto a tail until it breaks. The tails are extremely extremely delicate on these fish so it really doesn't take much.

With your plants and filter, in theory adding the frogs wouldn't be bad for the bioload, but it seems like betta and frogs don't get along well. You could divide the tank and add a second betta. Or add a small school of corydoras catfish.

Definitely not frogs then. :shock:

Would Pygmy Cories work? How many of those could I put in? Are there likely to be issues with these guys and the Betta?
