Pregnant or baloon?
Kinda new to the fish business, so hi everyone!
Just acquired this little molly, not sure if it's pregnant or a balloon or even what sex it is.
Help and advice would be kindly appreciated!
dont take my advice but from what ive heard she lookss like a ballon because of her back but like i said ive never owned mollies so im clueless on that subject
She is definitely a balloon. She is also definitely a she. As far as being gravid, I have had mollies for many years but with these new balloon mollies I can never tell.
I say new because they were developed in the last few years from normal mollies.
Thanks for the replies, the molly pictured above was actually gravid! Giving birth to about 18 babies. Some didn't make it after the first day, most are still alive atm.
Is crushed flake food the way to go? That's what i've been feeding them.
yes sadly some will die ive had enough now to sort of know which ones arent going to make it :( but alot still survive
i feed mine baby flakes that i buy from my lfs but many other members feed baby brine shrimp and their is also a watered down egg yolk recipe, ive heard off, ive never tried them but their are lots of things to feed them
good luck :D :D
If you don't have any special baby fish food on hand, crush a little flake food between your finger tips and feed them the powder you end up with. As it sinks to where they can get to it, they will gorge themselves on it.
