flow question

I know for a FOWLR tank I need 10x my tank size, and 20x for a reef tank. I think I messed up when I ordered my circulation pumps.

I have one maxi jet 600 and one hydro evolution 750.

Both are rated at 750gph. when both are on, things are really whipping around. I have the maxi jet at one end, at an upward tilt in order to create surfice cavitation. The evo is on the other end of the tank on the back wall. This one is pointed towards the middle of the tank.

When I have one or the other plugged in by itself there seems to be decent flow through the whole tank.

My question is, can I put the pumps on a timer where one is on for 12 hours and then the other one on for the other 12 hours.

For right now I am only planning on FOWLR.

That shouldn't hurt anything doing it that way. You want to watch for garbage build up in areas of the tank where the flow isn't getting.
