Clownfish (Amphiprion Ocellaris) + hermit crabs = ok?
Does anyone know of Clownfish that get along with hermit crabs, from what i have found the larger hermit crabs are reef and fish killers.. so how do the smaller ones get along?
What species do you have? The small ones I think won't really bother the clownfish.
I moved it here since the section where you posted it is for freshwater invertebrates only.:)
Welcome to Fishforum.com.
for the sake of other people knowing as i PM'd you.. can you recommend a particular species or more? thanks.
Definitely a good combo. Look for red legs, Hawaiians, halloweens, blue legs, or zebra leg hermits and all should be well. Do not buy any hermits that are "hairy".
May I ask why i shouldn't purchase "hairy" ones?
Hairy hermits tend to be coastal tide hermits and not reef hermits. They generally grow to be about the size of a softball and kill fish, corals, other crabs and hermits, and most all of your snails. That'd be enough reason for me not to keep them.
