Ripped off tail
I have 3 bettas and they live in their own containers, but our guess who doesn't know what kind of fish they are put them all in one large aquarium in our house.. we got them out on time, but now i notes they all have parts of their tail ripped off. Does their tail grow back? How long does it take to heal? Should I do anything to make it heal faster??
Small frequent water changes.
You can dose the water with Melafix (@ 1/5 the dose for Bettas) or BettaFix (the already watered down version of Melafix) or not, as you desire.
Yes, the tails will grow back.
i feel that frequent water change disturbs them because you have to constantly take them out, put in a temporary container, then put them back in... don't you think? is there a better way to do it?
When I was doing partial water changes in my 2 gal. bowl , I would just use a turkey baster to suck up the poop and clean the gravel and then suck out enough water that I wanted to change. Then I slowly added the same amount of conditioned water to the bowl. Fishie never left the bowl.
You especially want the water to be the best it can be while recovering so they can put their energy into the process of healing instead of dealing with the water.
Depending on your schedule and energy level, maybe you could do small water changes daily, like 10% (or 20% every two days), in addition to your regular water maintenance process -- as was advised to me on this forum when I was dealing with fin damage.
I'm sure others will come along and post as well.
Keep us posted on how they're doing.
Responding to Water Change..
I feel that my betta loves it when i change there water which i do twice a week or at least once a week.
Unless being active is a bad thing with Betta's???
I let them swim in the cup then i take it out...its all Good?? lol!
