Clover planting question
I just bought a potted clover live plant and I know this sounds silly, but do I take it out of the plastic pot and plant the roots in the substrate or leave it? The roots are grown completely around the outside of the pot. If I take it out of the pot, do I just gently pull the roots off the pot?

Remove it from the pot, remove as much of the grey material as possible, and then divide the individual plants as much as possible. As the leaves brown, remove them. The growth will change from the four-leave clover to something more like 'Glosso'.

The grey material, is that the synthetic looking stuff in the middle of the root ball?

yes, the grey synthetic material is 'rockwool'.
