That is my preferred med for ich. It works FAST.
There's no need to use salt. There are much better ways to cure it now.
You do not want to combine treatments. The heat works - that's all you need to do. It's very easy. I treat all new fish with heat. Everyone says to use an air stone because there's less oxygen in warmer water, but I never do - not even when I had it up to 90. While it's true there is less oxygen in warmer water, no one ever says how much less. HOWEVER, many meds utilize the oxygen in the water, so the combination of increased temp plus meds could leave the fish short on oxygen. It's really unnecessary to do both.
If your fish are infested - spots all over, then you should use meds because they need immediate relief. There is the risk the meds could do them in, but so could the heat in that situation, so it's a wash. If you catch it early enough, then heat is all you need. |
