Just purchased a Coraline 9 W uv st. I am running a 30 gal sump (refugium, bio balls, protein skimmer section) question is I got a canister filter that i want to integrate with the sump (just with sponges inside) can i run the uv with the pump from the cansiter filter and return to the sump?
Yes depending upon what type of canister it is and how powerful the pump is.
One thing to consider is that you cannot draw water from the sump into the canister and back to the sump. Canisters are gravity fed and therefore need to be picked up in the display and allowed to flow to the canister. The pump forces the water back to the display. I wouldn't draw water from the display and then pump it to the sump either as it will prove very difficult to time a pump that can handle the flow from the overflows of the tank AND the excess canister filter.
