Mystery Snail.. Not a "Mystery Snail"
Alright, you all probably know I have had a snail issue.. For the most part that is taken care of. I do house 3 true mystery snails, 1 in each tank. I like these guys.
Anyway I noticed a snail in my 75G tank.. (Hasn't had any snail issues).. This guy was actually kind of pretty so I couldn't kill him. I moved him to the 15g tank.
I was wondering if you could maybe help me figure out what kind of snail it is.
You can't really tell from the pictures.. But his shell is actually a little transparent.
This guy is not bigger than a dime. The substrate is pool filter sand.
Yep, is a ramshorn. If oyu don't mind them then keep it but you will have more of them quickly. Not as fast as the pond snails but they will reproduce quickly if not kept in check.
I have 100's of itty bitty ones on by glass now.. I'm kind of afraid of using the same nets on this tank..
I'm thinking about getting a 1 gallon bucket and filling it with fish water and adding snail poison and keep all my nets in this bucket.
Sell them, lots of people need them to feed their puffers or crawfish.
I just bought a puffer a while ago. Jack, short for Jack the ripper, AKA the cutest little bringer of wholesale slaughter around. Within a couple weeks, I had very few snails and a very fat little dwarf puffer. Now I just use my 5g as a 'safe haven' until I put them in with Jack. :-D
