Does my Guppy have a parasite? 5 Attachment(s) Ever since yesterday, one of my female guppies that I have had for about two weeks started looked clamped and her body somewhat darker. About an hour ago she was hiding by the filter. Attachment 55582 Attachment 55583 Attachment 55584 then recently she was out and about and seemed to be rubbing herself against everything (wall, plants, other fish) and now is just hanging out near the surface, Attachment 55585 Attachment 55586 She had been fine since I got her and she had been doing well with the other fish (two female guppies, one male guppy, a corydora, and two ottos.) Not sure what is suddenly wrong with her now or how. 10 gallon tank. All other fish are fine. Urgent help please! |
do a large wc and make sure there's a water conditioner added to it before filling the tank.she will slowly recover.just keep a good eye on her |
API Melafix/Pimafix may help as well. |

Many, myself included,,, consider them useless period. If these products do indeed contain an oil (tea tree), that coat's the fishes skin,,then they must also coat the fishes gills making breathing more difficult. Any kind of oil does not adhere very well if at all ,to anything in water. |
that's why i stick to the intrepet range i find it very effective |
Just an update: She isn't eating and she looks very very skinny (gills sticking out..) Looks like the end may be soon for her. Still not sure what is wrong - all others are fine. |
did you do a wc for her? swimming at the top means she's not getting enough o2 and something in the water is slowly killing her |
I did do a water change for her and she is actually at the bottom and just laying there like she has no energy. Before, she had been eating food and then spitting it out, and then she just stopped eating Posted via Mobile Device |
could be she's not feeling well.did you try lacing her food with garlic? i have heard of some people doing this and it actually helps the fish out but i've never tried it so you could do some research on it and try it out |
