I have a strange question. I have been letting a 40g tank populate itself with various guppies for about 4 months now. Now all of a sudden I have about 15 clearish fry (normal) and 4 long, skinny black fry that seem to always be on rocks, etc. like they scoot along on their bellies... Does anyone have any ideas??
i wouldn't know. do you have any good pictures? Maybe any differences from the other fry (asides from being black)?
well my camera is out of commission at the moment, however they are really long, skinny, and always seem to be resting on their bellies on the larger rocks..
Do you have any other fish in the tank besides the guppies?
If it has been populating itself without any interferance then there will have been a lot of inbreeding. This can lead to deformed fry; perhaps what you are seeing with the black fry? Without photos it will be harder to say.
