Need suggestions from fellow reefers!!

I have fowlr tank for about 16 months now and am pretty knowledged about fowlr tanks. But now I want to start a reef tank. Any suggestions on what size tank, lighting, corals, etc. I should start with since I'm new to reef?

i was told mushrooms are best for starters.i think you'll also need wave makers if you already don't have them.then there's calcium reactors reefs needs ca at 460.red sea pro reef salt is a very good salt mix for reef tanks.if your using a canister you'll want to use a sump.as for lighting a good blue actinic light is important some corals also need metal halides. reef supplements are also a must.

20g long smallest I would start with. Get your feet wet, easy to maintain, and lighting will be easy on the pocket book. T-5 set up 2 lamp unit will suffice, 4 lamp unit and you could keep anything including clams and Anemones. you can keep any coral with the right lightings in that tank, you'll just have to cut em back when they outgrow their area.

That light? Just one? To have any coral? No.

with so many lights don't you think he might need a chiller or at least a fan? corals die or bleach when the temp goes above 28 degrees for a pro-longed time if i'm not mistaken

Not with an LED unit. They don't get near hot enough to radiate that kind of heat. I use Metal Halides on my tank, I just use fans blowing across the surface of the water to keep my tank below 79, never needed a chiller.

I went for the AI sol blue. Some guy had it listed for $325 so I jumped on it. Just like new only used for couple months. I think I just need one of these for my tank.

LED are top of the line stuff and expensive most use T5 and those are the ones which create a lot of unwanted heat.
