Would this stocking work?
I know this stocking will be overstocked/pushing the very limit. I plan on having around 3-4 moss balls in the plant, 2 (aqueon 55/75 filters) (800gph) per hour, and do a 10% water change every week. I will keep prime on hand for emergencies and will slowly add the fish to allow the filter to adjust.
Anyway, would this work, if it is borderline, what should I change to make it work?
Here it goes:).
9 (Female Guppy)
25 (Guppy Fry) (these will survive and grow up mixed males and females)
10 (panda corydoras catfish)
10 (Neon Tetra)
100 (Ghost Shrimp)
9 (Platy) (red mickey mouse moon & neon sunburst moon)
3 (Dwarf Gourami) (1m, 2f)
6 (Albino Mystery Snail)
4 (Neon Swordtail) (1m 3f)
Well That's it.
A total of 176 things in the tank, a majority ghost shrimp:). I'm guessing most fry will be eaten in this set up before ever growing to full size.
Well, let me know what you think!
I also forgot 1 common pleco! (will be transfered to larger tank if grows above 9-10 in.)
What size is the tank?
To give the fish's more room, I removed the dwarf gourami's (1m 2f), and the neon tetra's (10). Also decreased number of snails to 5.
I would remove the common pleco period. A 4-foot tank is minimum for this fish, but it can attain up to 20 inches and produces a lot of waste which means a big load on the tank's biology. It may also eat many of the other inhabitants as it grows.
Other than this fish, I don't think I see problems with the revised stocking.
I agree.. Common pleco get pretty mean once they even hit 5".
If you really want a pleco, you could probably fit in a bristle nose pleco, which stays much smaller.
Sword tails I hear can be aggressive to smaller fish, so I'd keep an eye on them. I don't think many of the guppy fry will survive unless it's planted like a jungle.
Other than that, go for it!
Thanks for the help. I decided to replace common with clown!
