Bulging eye!! Tumor??
I posted a thread yesterday but haven't really received any feedback. I'm just really curious as to what is happening to my german blue ram. All my parameters are perfect.. I had him for about a month and a half.. I noticed a white dot on his head that kind of looked like a pimple about 4 days ago, it got much much worse, and he developed a couple on the side of his head.. nothing on his body.. dont think its ich.. Now his one eye is bulging out.. Im not sure if maybe its a cyst, growth or tumor that is putting pressure on his one eye and thats why its bulging out.. please help!!! :(
That's so weird because my GBR has recently developed a white spot on his head, that I'm watching. I'm thinking "hole in head" disease, which is caused by poor parameters, yet I have 0 nitrates with tons of plants and soft water with a ph of 6.3 It looks like a pimple you describe. They are not easy fish to keep, and when you say "perfect" parameters, what do you mean? They are really sensitive to nitrates and ph and of course can't have any ammonia or nitrites. The bulging eye sounds like "pop eye", which I don't know anything about. Do some checking by googling these words. You can get meds for pop-eye and hole in head, but you need to be careful when medicating rams. I'd start with half a dose than recommended.
Reading quickly on hold in head, stress and poor nutrition can also cause this, but I'm guessing you've got a second bacterial or fungal thing going on in addition. You do need to treat pretty fast, and still may lose him/her. You need to examine what caused it, (over crowding, stress etc) and fix that so you won't get it in the tank again.
Best of luck
