What to add to this tank
Hello, so I have a 125 gallon tank that currently houses an 8 inch Senegal Bichir, a 5 inch Black Ghost Knife, and a newly added 8 inch Reed Fish.
What else should I add to the tank? I would like to keep this "ancient" theme going. Maybe there is a non-nocturnal fish that would be a nice addition? An Arowana would be perfect but obviously it wouldn't fit!

I also may have to keep a 5 inch Red Devil in there, would that be awful?

The existing fish will limit almost any addition. The bichir for example will grow over a foot and eat anything that fits into its mouth, so there would go the butterfly fish. I would also not have something as beautiful and sensitive as the knifefish in with the bichir and ropefish.

Building the tank around one of these would be more likely successful, which would obviously mean removing the other two. For instance, a lovely display around the Black Ghost Knifefish, with a group of angelfish, suitable catfish, dim lighting, lots of branches, sand substrate with dry leaves, and floating plants could be stunning and true to the fish's natural environment.

"Ancient" type fish are basically unique in themselves and thus should form the centrepiece rather than attempting to compete with similar fish.
