Will baby endlers hybrid be bigger?
i am relatively new to breeding and have never crossbred before. i crossbred a plain blue female guppy with an endlers guppy i got at petsmart last week. will it be a big endlers guppy or a tiny blue fancy guppy?
or is it just chance?
Usually bigger, but if you got the endler at petsmart its likely that it is already a hybrid.
Agreed that chain store fish are a lot of time not "pure" particularly when it comes to smaller species such as this.
The fact that they are kept in massively overcrowded tanks leads to the possibility of a rogue fish getting in and creating hybrid fry. They also as well bulk order from suppliers which are not always careful in selecting the right fish for community tanks in pet stores.
Good luck with the breeding, perhaps post some pictures of the new fish when they get old enough to be able to do so.
The fish will likely not look like either parent, and will have a blend of the parents coloring and fin shape.
Definately interested in pictures- endler hybrids can be beautiful. The hybrid will smaller than a guppy and larger than an endler., (though female hybrids can get as big as guppy females)
