does extra filter help

i have a 24lx16hx12w 20gal tank with hob filter that has some very small debris floating around and hasnt really cleared up like my ten gal. the 20 has flourescent lighting and the 10 has regular bulbs, could that be the difference? i have an extra hob filter, would it help to put it on the 20? thanks for any input and ideas. also the 20 hob pick up tube only goes down 6 inches.

It depends on the fish you are keeping? will they be able to handle the extra flow rate from the HOB?

If the flow is not going to be too much, then for sure no problem in using it.

Monitor your tank water parameters though as while the new filter becomes seeded with bacteria you may experience a slight mini cycle.
