Nasty pond

Hi I have a 250 gallon pond and I have been having to clean the filter every other day. Whenever I have to clean it theres algae floating around. I have been using pond cares heavy duty pond cleaner and accu clear but I don't think its working. This happens every year but this year the filter clogs up faster than usual. The water is a greenish color.

I suspect the "pond cleaner" is doing what most seem to do,They bind the organics into a solid form or cause them to clump ,making it easier for filter to remove. Hence, the frequent cleaning of the fiter. I might were it me, (and it aint) Look to plants such as Amazon Frogbit,Indian Fern, water lettuce or some type of lilly that may help compete for the nutrients that are causing the green water. I would also maybe consider a larger filter.

The most important medication in your fish medicine cabinet is.. Clean water.

THere many solutions firs get a UV for the water of 30W
Second not use this expensive filter selling for ponds. Many times not work fine
First get a water deposit with cover of 100 Lts
put inside matrix for filter of koi carp (you get in ebay of 2 meter square) gravel inside a sack like is use for transport fruit other time other matrix and plastic balls in other sack.

I use it and the water become clean like for drink
What happens when you bacter and other algae. YOu get a high risk of get fungus and other bad ... in your fish
for every 5000 liters add 10 kg marine sal and 1 kg in the filter

You go to see new time happy fish in few hours and in few days the green start died change the water and fill again with new water and marine sal

There also a Blocks of minerals and vitamins is sold for the company http://shop.etropicals.co.uk contact then by email I think is only sold in Amazon or by direct contact

My pond got green and I was able to turn it clear with plants. It's much more cheaper and natural than using a UV cleaner or chemicals.

I personally used water lilies, papyrus, and pathos vine. I used to have water lettuce but they died off, probably due to the moving water and the fish constantly tugging and gnawing at their roots. Just search the net and nearby stores for aquatic plants available in your area. Any fast-growing plants are sure to outcompete algae.

Your fish love watching you as much as you love watching them. So please practice responsible fishkeeping.
