Build waterfall, what need to be considered ?

Hallo everyone,

I would like to build a waterfall in small yard, high about 3 meter or 10 feet, a miniature of this picture

How much water (gallon) per hour I need ?
how big the ponds to be set-up ?

and your experience sharing will be appreciated.

thanks

Welcome to the forum.

First of all you need a pump capable of pumping water to that height and not be powerful enough that it will drain the pond. The size of the pond does not really matter, as long as it has enough water to keep the waterfall flowing and leaves enough left for the fish that is fine.

10g Fry / Hospital / QT tank (as needed)

75g Saltwater Reef, Ocellaris Clownfish, Lyretail Antias (baby), Lemon damsel, Longtail Fairy Wrasse, purple dottyback, snails, crabs and a few LPS corals.

220g Still sitting empty (come on Lottery I need the numbers to come up!)

For a 10 foot head I would want to use two pumps, one pumps it halfway into the other which pumps it over the flow, keep your pond at the bottom large enough to accommodate all the water of the waterfall when the pumps aren't running I'd say at least 100gal capacity but it would look nicer with 1-2 thousand if you have the space. Make sure to line the rocks with black pond rubber then cement the falls how you want them. Make sure all the tubing and pumps can be accessed without breaking the cement in case you need to do maintenance on them. I have had a 150-200gal pond with a 4 foot waterfall for several years, my only regret is that it isn't deeper because leaf rot and other plant matter settles to the bottom and you loose several inches

That would make sense. Haven't you heard? We make yogurt, not sense.
