Not my Mother. No way! I'd be out on my ear, along with the rats!

i'm too scared of being bitten,i'll stick to lizards and locus.

when you set up a new tank, hide an extra
sponge or two behind some decor, that way you have
something seeded for you next filter.

Lol, rats are really good about not biting. I've been bitten by hamsters, mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits but NEVER rats. Lol I've owned a fair about of rats in my life time too. The only time they 'bite' is if they mistake your finger for food. But they grab lightly and then realize and let go. Unless you have a grabby rat, then you just can't put your fingers through the cage They are way more content on licking your fingers.

And just before you laid dead weight upon its shores, I stung you in the face for that's the nature of my core.

Yeah, I've heard that they very rarely bite. I was bitten by a hamster when I was little and even though I love hamsters, I'm still kind of leery about handling them.

Rats get a bad rap because of sewers... and another silly little thing called the plague.
But they're only as dirty as their house. They're just like any other rodent -- constantly cleaning themselves so if they're given a clean place to live, they're clean too.

They're actually great pets and very smart. There are all kinds of studies on just how smart they are.

I was bit by one of the other females I had (not Squeaker!) when I was trying to tend her to domicile. Her babies were in there, too. Evidently she didn't like my hand in there. I got a nip on my finger. It hurt like an <UGH>.

Yeah, they DO get a bad rap. When people hear the word RAT they think of filth and sewers. I've heard so many good things about them, though. I think its only natural for your female to bite you when you stuck your hand in there.. She was just being protectiveof her babies.
