so i'm looking for a celestial or bubble eye goldfish, and can find exactly 1 store that sells them, but the store supports puppy mills!:evil: My parents won't let me buy from online, and i just have no idea where to go (i live in sf) Please help!!! :frustrated:
Dunno man, to be honest I kind of feel the same way about the people that keep breeding celestial and bubble eye goldfish as I do those that run puppy mills. . . and just as sad for the poor creatures that are the end result. . .
Ya. While I love goldfish I kinda feel sorry for the show goldfish and the extremely modified ones like celestials and bubble eyes. They also have a much reduced life span. I like to stick to hardier breeds like ryukin and oranda (again not show-grade fish). Even ranchu fare better because they don't have deformed eyes, but they do still lack the dorsal fin if that is what you like. They also seem to be a bit more common in pet stores.
Ninja, I realized after I typed my reply that it sounded kind of harsh, and was a bit worried you'd take my comment the wrong way. I'm very glad that you didn't!
I really do think that you should look into other types of goldies, or at least, I know I would if it was my tank. :-?
I am in complete agreement with Izzy here - and SHE is a real goldfish pro, so you can trust her on these things. . .
Good luck making your decision, and finding the right Goldie for you! :-D
Lol I get it when I get annoyed about some animal cruelty thing people have to tell me to quit being a pit bull... Posted via Mobile Device
